Winning My First Padel Tournament

In May 2026, I played in my third padel tournament, and it turned out to be an experience I will never forget.

The event was the TrustPadel Open at Brentwood Padel Club. I was the youngest player in the tournament and the only junior competing against 23 adult players, with Matchi ratings ranging from 3.5 to 4.2. It was a tough field, and I was excited to test myself against experienced players.

Padel is such a tactical sport. It's not just about hitting the ball hard – it's about placement, reading rebounds off the glass, making smart decisions and working closely with your partner. As I've learned more about the game, I've also realised how important fitness and mental attitude are. Staying focused, positive and composed throughout a long tournament can make a huge difference, especially during close matches and pressure points.

There were definitely some nerves before the tournament, but once I settled into the rhythm of the matches, I started to play my game and enjoy the challenge. Maintaining a positive mindset and trusting my training helped me stay confident throughout the day.

The format included six pool matches, each lasting 20 minutes. After some competitive games, I managed to qualify for the final eight. I was then partnered with Ronnie, and together we battled through a tense semi-final before reaching the final.

The final was a nail-biting match, but we stayed focused, worked well as a team and came out on top. Winning my first tournament was an incredible feeling and a moment I will always remember.

The experience taught me a lot about competition, teamwork and staying calm under pressure. It has also motivated me to keep improving my fitness, shot selection, movement, communication and overall understanding of the game.

Next up is a charity tournament at Rocket Padel Battersea in July 2026, where I'll be supporting my uncle's charity while competing against another strong field of players. I'm really looking forward to the event and the opportunity to continue learning, improving and enjoying this amazing sport.

This may have been my first tournament win, but hopefully it's only the beginning of the journey.
